Numerous East Asian law firms gained recognition for their services this year. In Japan, the ever-expanding Nishimura & Asahi won National Firm of the Year, while Morrison & Foerster LLP, well known for its diverse platform and top-tier service towards domestic and international clients, was awarded International Firm of the Year. In South Korea, Lee & Ko, one of the strongest firms in the local market, and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, whose clientele includes a range of Korea’s largest industrial and commercial powerhouses, took home National Firm and International Firm, respectively. Taiwan’s Firm of the Year was Tsar & Tsai, recognized for its strength across insurance, IP and other areas.
Southeast Asia also had its share of quality firms. Soewito Suhardiman Eddymurthy Kardono, one of Indonesia’s top performers, and Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, one of the region’s most established team at handling international affairs, received National Firm and International Firm, respectively. In Philippines, Firm of the Year went to one of the nation’s largest, most reputable firms, Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz. Singapore’s Rajah & Tann LLP, known for its top-notch service in litigation and arbitration, was awarded National Firm of the Year, and Clifford Chance LLP, whose practice attracts an impressive client base, was named International Firm of the Year.
