K&L Gates' Tokyo offices has hired several lawyers from Clifford Clifford. Overall, three partners and seven other lawyers have changed offices including Keiji Isaji, whose work includes civil, commercial, criminal, financial services, advising on media and aviation disputes, in addition to litigation about Japan's legal political funding; Atsushi Yamashita, whose work includes civil, commercial, white-collar such as foreign anti-trust and any related work regarding the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices; and Naoki Watanabe, who has worked with clients on M&A, joint ventures, distribution and licenses agreements, and more corporate matters, and finally health care issues.
The move comes as Clifford Chance is currently undergoing a reorganization of their Japan office, which has practiced as a joint venture with Tanaka & Akita, a Japanese-qualified lawyers firm, since 2001. On the other hand, K&L Gates opened its Tokyo office in 2010 and has known many changes since including the current hires, which doubles the firm's partnership in Tokyo. Overall, the company is now increasing its profits and revenues and continues to expand throughout Asia.
