In association with local firm Mashora Advocates and Legal Consultants, Curtis, Mallet-Prevost, Cost & Mosle opened a new office in Kuwait. Partner David Pfeiffer will head the office. Curtis is the 3rd international law firm to become involved with Kuwait following DLA Piper and SNR Denton. The new office is part of Curtis’ efforts to increase their growth in the Middle East after establishing a strong presence in Oman and Dubai.
Watson, Farley & Williams Opens Hong Kong Office
Watson, Farley & Williams (WFW) recently opened a Hong Kong office in conjunction with local firm Lau, Leong & Co. This office is WFW’s 13th office worldwide, and third in Asia. Partners Loretta Lau, Madeline Leong and Nicholas Hanna head this office and in the next 18 months there are plans to expand the team to about 20 lawyers. WFW’s Hong Kong office specializes in energy, shipping, offshore oil and gas, banking, and finance. It also offers services for equity capital markets, project finance, restructuring, private equity, and foreign direct investment into Mainland China.
Squire Sanders Plans to Open Seoul Office
Squire Sanders has applied for approval to open a Seoul office. March 6th, 2012 was the first day that American firms were allowed to apply through the Korean Ministry of Justice for approval to open an office in South Korea. Joon Yong Kim, who will be relocating to South Korea, will lead the Squire Sanders Seoul office. Partner Edward Ghiyun Kim will also be relocating to Seoul from the firms Tokyo office.
