Toime is a specialist in natural resources, energy, infrastructure, and project finance. He has experience with M&A, asset finance, and energy transactions and has worked in Asia for several years advising finance parties, developers, projects, and transactions.
Former Freshfields Partner Moves to China’s Zhong Lun
Carl Cheng, former partner at Freshfields Shanghai office has joined Zhong Lun in Beijing. Cheng has experience in cross-border M&A, inbound and outbound investments and corporate governance matters. Cheng will begin working in this Chinese firm in the second half of this year.
White & Case HK Gains New Partner from Freehills
Lead partner of Freehills’ mining practice, John Tivey, will leave to join White & Case in their Hong Kong office later in the year. Last year Tivey advised on two major deals in Australia’s mining sector and many international law firms have shown an interest in Australia because of heavy investment in their mining sector from Asia.
Hogan Lovells Brings London Partner to Mongolia Office
Chris Melville, corporate partner at Hogan Lovells in London has been relocated to their office in Ulaanbaatar. Melville spent to years in Russia with Hogan Lovells and has since focused on Russia related deals. Melville will be the 2nd partner at the Ulaanbaatar office joining Michael Aldrich who relocated from Hong Kong in 2009.
