        New Corporate Partner at Skadden HK Skadden in Hong Kong hired former Paul Hastings corporate partner Christopher Betts as a corporate partner. Betts, who will join Skadden in May, will focus on M&A and capital markets and work with other corporate matters.

        Clifford Chance Hires Beijing Funds Partner from Akin Gump Ying White, former head of Akin Gump’s investment funds practice in Beijing, was hired as an investment funds partner at Clifford Chance’s Beijing office. This hire will aid the firm in meeting an increase demand in China for investment funds services.

        White & Case Hires 3 Capital Markets Attorneys from A&O   In an effort to boost their capital markets practice in Japan, White & Case hired three lawyers from Allen & Overy. This trio includes partner Norifusa Hashimoto, previous co-head of A&O’s capital markets group in Japan, counsel Seiji Matsuzoe, and associate Aya Kurahashi.

       Khaitan Hires Partner from Amarchand   Khatian & Co hired partner Ganesh Prasad from Amarchand & Mangaldas in Bangalore in an effort to place more focus on South India.  Prasad has over 11 years of experience with M&A and private equity, and also has experience in technology law, acquisition and structured finance, real estate, employment, and taxation. Khaitan has also hired associate partner Raj Panchmatia in their Mumbai office, who has over 10 years of experience in litigation and dispute resolution.

       Tax Partner leaves WongPartnership for KPMG Leung Yew Kwong, a former tax partner at WongPartnership, has joined KPMG as a principal consultant. Kwong is an expert in income tax, GST, stamp duty, and property tax, and he will focus on tax resolution and advisory work at KPMG.

       Freshfields Hong Kong Promotes 4 New Partners Effective May 1st, 2012, Freshfields will promote four lawyers in their Hong Kong office to partnership. These new partners include corporate specialists Charles Ching and Edward Freeman, dispute resolution specialist Georgia Dawson, and IP/TMT specialist Mark Parsons. Ching has experience in a broad range of corporate work, advising corporate clients and financial sponsors in cross border transactions. Freeman has worked with clients on cross borders M&As, privatizations, and corporate finance transactions across Asia and Europe. Dawson specializes in cross border dispute and contentious regulatory matters. Parsons has advised on a wide range of matters in the TMT sector including outsourcings, technology licensing, and brand related work.
