       Clyde & Co Appoints New Partner

Clyde & Co has named Michael Horn a partner in the firm’s Singapore office. Horn’s 20 years of experience comes from serving as managing director and associate general counsel of Financial Security Assurance Inc and as head of Coudert Brothers’ Jakarta and Singapore offices, as well as Chief Risk Officer at PT Indonesia Infrastructure Finance. His expertise is in infrastructure and structured finance, secured lending, private equity investment, debt, and a wide range of corporate matters.

       White & Case Hires Partner from Freehills

White & Case has hired partner John Tivey from Freehills in Melbourne. Tivey was formerly in charge of Freehills’ mining practice. He is expected to help lead White & Case’s global mining and metals industry group from Asia, and to split time between Singapore and HK. He worked as a partner for Freehills for 14 years. He has experience across Asia, particularly China where he has advised Chinese state owned enterprises on their investments in Australia.

       Winston & Strawn Appoint Partner in Shanghai

Winston & Strawn has appointed Brinton M Scott as a partner in its Shanghai office. His practice will focus on corporate law, IP rights, M&A, joint ventures, and FDI. He was formerly a partner at Clyde & Co and has worked in China on legal business for 16 years.

       Baker Promotes 25 Partners

Baker & McKenzie has promoted 25 partners in different offices across Asia. In Hong Kong Pierre Chan, Anna Gamvros, Clara Ingen-Housz, Winton Kim, and Dominic Wai were promoted. In Jakarta Susie Beaumont, Iqbal Darmawan, and Muhammad Karnova were promoted. In Tokyo Ean Mac Pherson and Kei Matsumoto. In Taipei Hao-ray Hu, Anna Hwang, Enzo Pan, and Howard Shiu. In Bangkok Nont Horayangura, Theerapab Punyasakhon, Panya Sittisakonsin, Benja Supannakul, and Aek Tantisattamo were promoted. In Singapore Angeline Lee and Allen Tan were named partners. In Manila Miguel Galvez was promoted. In Beijing Simon Leung was promoted. In Kuala Lumpur Hsian Siong Yong was named partner. The promotions were part of a worldwide promotion spree that saw 63 promotions worldwide. Baker & McKenzie now has 346 partners in the Asia-Pacific region.

       Minter Ellison Add 5 New Partners

Minter Ellison has increased its size with five new partners, 16 special counsel and 28 senior associates. The new partners are Malcom Chin in HK, Leigh De Jong in Sydney, Bastian Gasser Melbourne, Steve Latham on the Gold Coast, and Jonathan Williams in Brisbane.

       Armstrong Adds 2

Armstrong Teasdale has hired two partners in Shanghai. Thomas Bottini is the firm’s new Shanghai office chief representative and international practice partner. Steven Yu is the other latest partner from CMS Cameron Mckenna. Bottini specializes in technology investments while Yu is a corporate specialist who has expertise in dealing with large M&As.
