Description: The Women's Committee is launching a series of informal gatherings on the second Wednesday of each month. Each of the gatherings, which will be a brown-bag lunch or no-host dinner, will provide a forum for interested attorneys to get together for substantive legal discussion, mentorship and camaraderie.

Description: The Asian American Bar Association welcomes you to attend a joint event sponsored by its In-House and Mentorship Committees. This will be a great opportunity for newer attorneys to meet in-house attorneys and gain insights about working as an in-house attorney and for more seasoned in-house attorneys to give back to the AABA community by serving as mentors to our younger AABA members. This program will be a casual event, which will begin with several in-house attorneys discussing their path to an in-house role and how they have succeeded in an in-house environment. Following this discussion, potential mentees will be encouraged to mingle with potential mentors in a casual networking environment. Appetizers will be provided.

Description: Underwritten by Kirkland & Ellis LLP and Farella Braun + Martel LLP, Career Day offers law students and junior to mid-level attorneys mock interviews, resume feedback, a panel discussion, and the opportunity to mingle with interviewers and other participants during a networking lunch. This year's panel, featuring Fairuz Abdullah (UC Hastings), Akshay Verma (Axiom Law Group), and Paul Tanaka (Kirkland & Ellis), will discuss current trends in recruiting and tips on marketing yourself.

ATTORNEY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Attorney volunteers are still needed to conduct mock interviews and to review resumes. Your participation would involve only about two hours and is greatly appreciated. Description: The Asian American Bar Association will be hosting AABA Billiards Night on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 6- 9 p.m. at Jillian's Billiards located at 175 Fourth Street in San Francisco. UC  Hastings' Civil Justice Clinic at 100 McAllister Street,  San Francisco, CA  Suite 300

Description: The AABA Community Services Committee and Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach (APILO) operate a pro bono legal clinic that is staffed by volunteer attorneys and law students. The clinic helps ensure that low-income Bay Area residents, including many mono- lingual immigrants, will receive free legal information and advice from AABA volunteers. The APILO/AABA clinic assists individuals in a number of areas, including immigration and family law issues. (The Oakland clinic is held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.)
